Bardzo często dostaję prośby o przygotowanie takiego, czy innego utworu. Wśród nich, utwór „The House of The Rising Sun”, pojawiał się chyba najczęściej. Ulegając presji, nie pozostało mi nic innego, jak przygotować ten odcinek. Jeśli zapytać przeciętnego normika (swoją drogą lubię to określenie, na przeciętnego zjadacza chleba) kto skomponował utwór „The House Of The Rising Sun”, najczęstszą odpowiedzią będzie: „Oczywiście, że zespół The Animals”.W końcu to wersja brytyjskich „zwierzaków” nagrana w 1964 roku stała się tą najpopularniejszą. Nie wielu jednak wie, że za tym utworem stoi trochę dłuższa historia. A mówiąc trochę, mam na myśli około 400 lat. Niektórzy muzykolodzy zauważyli pewne podobieństwo melodii, do szesnastowiecznej ballady o tytule „The Unfortunate Rake”. Wprawdzie nie ma dowodów na powiązanie tych dwóch utworów, ale słuchając tego drugiego, można zauważyć pewną inspirację. Alan Lomax (znany etnomuzykolog) zauważył natomiast, że sformułowanie „Rising Sun”, występowało w dwóch tradycyjnych utworach brytyjskich, jako nazwa domu publicznego. Sugerował on, że melodia może być powiązana z utworem „Lord Barnard and Little Musgrave”, znanym również pod nazwą „Matty Groves”. Nie udało się jednak udowodnić tych powiązań. Pomijając jednak różne teorie (jedna z nich mówi na przykład, że utwór ten przywędrował do USA nie z Wielkiej Brytanii, a z Francji), możemy z całą pewnością uznać ten utwór, za utwór tradycyjny, a jego autora za w obecnie znanej nam wersji, datowany jest na początek XX wieku. Tekst utworu został opublikowany po raz pierwszy w 1925 roku, przez Roberta Winslowa Gordona w magazynie „Adventure” w kolumnie „Old Songs That Men Have Sung” co w luźnym tłumaczeniu, oznacza: „Stare piosenki, które powinien znać każdy mężczyzna”. Nie piszę tego, żeby się żalić. Była to świetna zabawa i z chęcią zrobiłbym to jeszcze raz 😉 Mam tylko jedną ogromną prośbę.
